Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the questions we hear most often.

Visit our create an account page and choose whether you're a job seeker or an employer. Enter your email address, create a password, and complete the short verification step.
Yes. Creating a candidate account, building your profile, searching for jobs, and applying to jobs is free. There are no hidden fees or paid tiers for job seekers. IJN is committed to removing barriers for Indigenous job seekers across Canada.
IJN supports three account types: Candidate (job seekers building a profile and applying to roles), Employer (companies posting jobs and reviewing applications), and Agency (recruitment firms managing multiple employer clients). Create an account and select the type that fits your needs.
After signing up, go to your candidate dashboard and click "Edit Profile." Add your work history, education, skills, languages, and upload your resume. A complete profile helps you apply faster, and employers see your resume when you apply to their jobs.
Yes. Indigenous Jobs Network serves people in every province and territory. You can browse opportunities, apply to roles, and manage your profile from any location in Canada. Some employers also list remote and hybrid roles open to candidates across Canada.
If you've forgotten your password, visit the password reset page and enter the email address associated with your account. We'll email you a secure reset link. If it doesn't arrive within a few minutes, check your spam folder.
Yes. Go to your account settings from the dashboard and select "Account & Security." Enter your new email address and confirm the change. You'll receive a verification email to the new address before the update takes effect. If you run into any issues, contact us for assistance.
Once you're signed in, go to your candidate dashboard and navigate to "Job Alerts." Set your preferred keywords, location, employment type, and salary range, then choose how frequently you'd like to be notified (daily or weekly). You can create multiple alerts and manage them all in one place.
Indigenous Jobs Network works on all modern browsers, including the latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. For the best experience, keep your browser up to date. Internet Explorer is not supported.
IJN does not currently have a dedicated mobile app, but the site works on phones and tablets through your mobile browser. You can search jobs, apply and manage your profile on the go.
Head to browse opportunities and use the search bar to find roles by keyword, job title, or company name. You can also browse the full list, sort by newest or most relevant, and use filters to narrow your results.
Yes. The job search page includes filters for province and city, employment type (full-time, part-time, contract, casual), work arrangement (on-site, hybrid, remote), experience level, and salary range. Filters can be combined and are applied instantly.
Click on any listing to open the full job details. If the employer accepts applications through IJN, click "Apply Now" and submit your profile and any supporting documents. Some employers use their own application portal. In that case, the button takes you to their site.
Your candidate dashboard has a dedicated "Applications" tab that shows every role you've applied to, the current status (submitted, under review, shortlisted, or closed), and the date of any status changes. You'll also receive email notifications when an employer updates your application.
Featured jobs are listings that employers have paid to promote. They appear at the top of search results and are marked with a featured badge.
Yes. Click the bookmark icon on any job card or listing page to save it to your "Saved Jobs" list in your candidate dashboard. You can review saved jobs at any time and apply when you're ready. Just be mindful of application deadlines.
Job alerts run automatically in the background and email you when new listings match your saved criteria. You can configure multiple alerts with different keyword and location combinations, set your preferred frequency (daily or weekly), and pause or delete any alert from your dashboard at any time.
Salary disclosure is at the employer's discretion. Some employers choose not to display a range publicly and instead discuss compensation during the interview process. Where a salary or range is listed, you'll see it prominently on the job detail page.
If a listing looks fraudulent, requests payment from you, or seems otherwise suspicious, click the "Report" button on the job detail page or contact us directly. We look into reports, and we may remove listings that break our policies.
Create an employer account, complete your company profile, then click "Post a Job" from your dashboard. Walk through the guided form (job title, description, location, salary, and requirements), then preview and publish. You'll need an active posting package or credits. See our pricing page for options.
IJN offers single job posts and multi-post bundles. Each package lists what it includes, such as featured listing upgrades, and how long its posts stay live (at least 180 days). Visit the pricing page to compare current packages.
Your employer dashboard groups all incoming applications by job posting. You can review each candidate's profile and resume, move them through status stages (new, reviewing, shortlisted, offered, rejected), and add internal notes. Bulk actions let you update multiple applications at once.
Yes. Featured listings appear at the top of search results and category pages and carry a highlighted badge. You can select "Featured" when creating a new posting, or upgrade an existing active listing directly from your dashboard. An "Urgent" badge is also available for time-sensitive roles.
From your company dashboard, go to "Company Profile" to add your logo, cover image, company description, industry, headquarters location, website, and social media links. A complete profile builds trust with candidates and helps them find your company in our company directory.
Employer verification confirms a company is a legitimate organization. Verified employers display a verification badge on their profile and job listings. Verification involves a short review of your organization details. Contact us to begin the process.
Yes. Agencies can create an Agency account, which allows them to manage multiple employer client profiles and post jobs on their behalf. Agency accounts support team roles (owner, admin, recruiter, viewer) and flexible billing: either the agency pays, or each client company is billed directly.
Go to "My Jobs" in your employer dashboard and click the listing you want to modify. You can edit any field on a draft or active posting. To pause a listing temporarily without losing applicants or credits, click "Pause". The job will be hidden from search results until you resume it.
Each job posting has a Stats panel showing total views, unique views, application count, and conversion rate. You can see how performance changes over time, compare listings side by side, and use what you learn to improve your job titles and descriptions.
We accept major credit and debit cards, including Visa, Mastercard and American Express, processed securely through Stripe. We do not store your full card details on our servers.
Credits are your posting currency. One standard job post consumes one credit. Adding a featured upgrade or urgent badge uses an additional credit each. Credits you purchase stay in your account balance until you use them.
Yes. You can buy another package at any time from the Billing section of your dashboard. New credits are added to your account and any unused credits you already have stay available. Visit the pricing page to review available packages.
All purchases are final. If a technical problem on our side stops you from using credits you paid for, contact us. We review these cases one at a time, and a refund only ever covers unused credits. See our Terms of Service for details.
Navigate to the Billing section of your employer dashboard. You'll find your transaction history, PDF invoices for every charge, your current plan and your remaining credit balance.
Purchased credits stay in your account until you use them, unless the package lists an expiry period. Credits included in a monthly subscription are valid for that billing period and don't roll over when the plan renews. If you close your account, any unused credits are forfeited.
When a subscription expires or is cancelled, your active job postings remain visible until their individual expiry dates. You won't be able to publish new listings without an active plan or available credits. Your account, company profile and application data stay in your account, so you can pick up where you left off (see our Terms of Service for how inactive accounts are handled).
Yes. Every transaction generates a detailed invoice that includes your company name, billing address, itemized charges, and applicable taxes. You can download invoices in PDF format from the Billing section of your dashboard at any time. If you need a different invoice format, contact us.
Go to your dashboard's Billing section and click "Cancel Subscription." Your plan will remain active until the end of the current billing period. You won't be charged again after that. You can re-subscribe at any time from the pricing page.

Yes. Card payments are handled by Stripe, our payment processor. IJN does not store your full card number, CVV, or banking details on our servers. Stripe handles all sensitive payment data directly.
Click the "Report" button on any job detail page, or contact us directly at [email protected]. We look into reports, and we may remove listings that are fraudulent or break our policies.
No. Employers cannot see your email address, phone number, or other personal contact details until you apply to one of their listings. Your public profile displays only the information you have chosen to share, such as your name, skills, and work history summary.
To request a copy of the personal data IJN holds about you, go to your account settings and click "Request Data Export," or email our Privacy Officer. We will respond within the time required by law.
